Attention all Vancouverites

Unless you haven't heard yet, I'm going to be one of the MC's at this year's Miss Asia Vancouver Pageant. That means that I'll finally get to visit Vancouver (and Canada for that matter).

I'd like to meet any of you who have time but I'll be busy. The only practical time I can do this will be on Thursday night, December 18. What I'd like to do is meet everyone at a coffee shop with great coffee and fabulous cakes (because fabulous cakes are not so easy to come by in Hong Kong). Please suggest a place or two. We'll all decide on a place and time to meet.

Take care.

Greg, do you meet up with Sydneysiders when you come to Australia to visit your family? Let us know.

hi Fiona.

my family live in Gympie, a small town near Brisbane. but to answer your question; if it can be arranged, I love to meet with people in each place that I pass through, one of the perks of not being a superstar. there is a chance that I'll be visiting Sydney next year so... ;-)

cheers,
Gregory 河國榮

Well if you do come by Sydney next year I'd love to meet up.
Yes definitely one of perks of not being a superstar is having that freedom, and not being followed and watched all the time. You must be enjoying your life very much right now, having your kids with you, in a job you enjoy etc.

Given that you sound like a nice all-round guy judging from your blog, I am amazed and disgusted that you have agreed to participate in this overtly racist show. Would you also appear in such events as say a, Miss Whites-only Pageant (no coloureds allowed)? I think not. So why are you taking part in which only Chinese can enter? I hope that you have the good grace to donate your appearance money to organisations which fight these beliefs.

Tommy,
I have no idea why you think Miss Chinese Pagaent is so racist. It is simply a pagaent for all the Chinese around the world to enter. If not for this show Chinese in non Asian countries would not have the chance to enter into a beauty pagaent, do you see any Chinese entering Miss Vancouver or Miss Toronto? No, even though they may be born there but they are physically not Canadians, they have such different physical features it would be unfair to judge them together.

Hi Mr Ho,

I saw your prom. for Miss Chinese (Vancouver) Pageant on TV these few days but I can only see your whole show via recording after my trip.

Here’s the 5-day weather forecast for Vancouver.

Take care and good luck!

Bye now!

Great to meet you

Hi Greg,

It was my pleasure to meet u in person yesterday! I am listening to your interview with Brenda at this moment. YOu sing very well!! Hope you have a nice stay in Vancouver. It might snow again tonite and tomorrow. So bundle up and grab hot coffee if you are not in stress. Otherwise, hot chocolate is always good, too!

If you go to North Van which is beautiful in this Xmas season, there's a great coffee and dessert place. It's called Thomas Hass..I think someone by the name of Ethan has suggested that to you. I will give you the website http://maps.google.ca/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=113467876029137367351.00044df4959e04637b3fd&ll=49.315079,-123.100691&spn=0.014296,0.025234&z=15

Or if you stick around Richmond, Yavis in Union Square has very good cheesecake and there's a coffee shop close to that place has pretty good coffee, too.

In Vancouver, there's a Cheesecake Etc on Granville street and W7th Ave or there's a Sweet Obsession http://www.sweetobsession.ca/page118.htm

Hope these helps..I love dessert, too..

Meet-up in Vancouver

Hi Greg,
Are you still up for coffee this Thursday evening? I live in Greater Vancouver, so I'm not that familiar with coffee shops in Vancouver or Richmond. Where exactly are you staying in Vancouver? You probably would like to find a place in the vicinity of where your staying. I'll be watching the beauty pagent tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to seeing you play the role of a 司儀。

Good Job!

Hi Greg,

Just finished watching the pagent. You did a good job along side 林嘉華 and the other guy. Did you feel nervous on stage? How long did you prepare for this night? Hope to see you in this type of event more often.

Michael, we'll be here until Saturday. We're living in the Richmond area, and coffee is still possible if anyone can agree on a place that we could get to conveniently.

Cheers,
A very tired Ho Kwok Wing :-)

Coffee in Richmond

Someone suggested that cheese cake cafe place called Yavis in Richmond. I happen to know where that is. I guess that is a possibility. Were you thinking of more European style desserts? I definitly don't want to miss out on an opportunity to meet up with you while you're here.

Hope you were able to get some decent shut eye today.

Michael, Yavis would be fine. Is 8.30pm ok with you? We're going to walk around Downtown, then head over to Metrotown before returning to Richmond. I'll check this site again while we're in Metrotown.
Cheers.
Note. Others are welcome to come :-)
